Biology Seminar: "How vertebrates make and see red color"

The Department of Biology's seminar speaker on Friday, Oct. 4, is Joseph Corbo, MD, PhD, a Professor in the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Corbo's seminar will be held at 3:30 p.m. in Kollros Auditorium (Room 101) in Biology Building East (BBE). Albert Erives is the faculty host. A reception with refreshments will be held in the BBE lobby following the seminar.

The award recognizes Paul McCray Jr., MD, for his pioneering work in gene therapies and dedication to the final 10% of the cystic fibrosis community who do not benefit from current CFTR modulators.
Kathy Edwards (73MD) is a world-renowned physician, teacher, mentor, and researcher who has made significant contributions to life-saving advances in vaccines. Throughout her career, she has designed and executed clinical trials and educated others on their conduct to ensure the safety and efficacy of vaccines for influenza, pertussis, pneumococcus, and many other pathogens. Edwards is a recipient of the University of Iowa Center for Advancement's 2024 Achievement Award.
Jon Lensing (20MD) co-founded OpenLoop in 2019, when he was a medical student at the University of Iowa. As CEO of the telehealth company, he has applied his leadership, research, and technology skills to grow the company nationwide with the vision to bring healing anywhere. Lensing is a recipient of the University of Iowa Center for Advancement's 2024 Recent Graduate Award.
