The UI Carver College of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Awards is the highest honor that the College bestows on its graduates. Throughout the country and world, alumni and friends are influencing the delivery of health care, changing the course of medical education, and conducting groundbreaking research. The selection committee aims to honor a broad range of qualified candidates with Carver College of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Awards through nominations in these categories that meet the following guidelines:

LEVELS OF ACHIEVEMENT:

• Distinguished Alumni Award for Achievement
  is granted to University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine alumni for significant professional accomplishments in science, medicine and/or education.

• Distinguished Alumni Award for Service
  is granted to University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine alumni for meritorious leadership and service in a professional capacity or in the broader community.

• Distinguished Alumni Award for Early Career Achievement
  is granted to University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine graduates of the past 20 years who have achieved early distinction in their field.

• Distinguished Alumni Award for Friendship
  is granted to individuals who are not alumni in recognition of support for and dedication to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and its missions of education, research and service.

NOMINATION FORMAT:

Graduates, former students, faculty, staff, and friends of the University of Iowa may make nominations. Nominators should submit the following: a letter that states the category of nomination and establishes the candidate's qualifications with clear and concise detail; the nominee's vita or professional résumé, including a current address; at least three supporting letters of nomination from other individuals; and any additional information that would further substantiate the nomination.

ELIGIBILITY:

All living graduates of the Carver College of Medicine’s medical education, residency and fellowship training, and associated medical sciences and basic science programs are eligible. The Alumni Awards Committee reserves the right to reassign categories of nomination if deemed applicable.

DEADLINE:

Nominations are due January 1, 2023 for the following year's awards.
