4th Midwest Single Molecule Workshop

Organizers: Dr. Maria SpiesDepartment of Biochemistry, University of Iowa and Dr. Janice Robertson, Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, University of Iowa

The Midwest Single-Molecule workshop will gather the leading researchers in single-molecule biophysics from all across the Midwest (loosely defined) to share ideas, research, and resources. The range of expertise and research interests of meeting participants will range from development of new experimental techniques (such as hybrid methods that combine fluorescence imaging and high resolution force spectroscopy, in vivo imaging and tracking methodologies) to application of these techniques to exceedingly complex biological biomedical systems, and the range of experimental scales from individual isolated molecules to whole organism studies,

The two-day meeting will feature a keynote address by Dr. Jeff Gelles from Brandeis University, short talks and posters selected from submitted abstracts.

The past three workshops, held at Washington University, St. Louis (2010), the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (2012) and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2014) were very popular and attracted over 100 participants, and we anticipate a similar audience this year.
