Dr. Kunz is an Affiliate Faculty in the Program in Bioethics and Humanities and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He received his Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences while simultaneously earning a Master of Arts in Bioethics (MA). Dr. Kunz completed his Residency in Family Medicine in Waukesha, WI through the Medical College of Wisconsin. Following residency, he completed a Medical Education Faculty Development Fellowship in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa and earned a Master in Medical Education (MME). Dr. Kunz practices outpatient and inpatient medicine within the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, serves as a consultant on the Hospital's Ethics Consult Service, and is a member of the Ethics Subcommittee. He is the Medicine and Society I Course Director for the Carver College of Medicine and also serves on the Teaching Distinction Track Committee for the College of Medicine. Dr. Kunz’s research interests include physician-patient communication, medical education, shared decision making, and hospice & palliative care.
