2017 Faculty Promotions

The Department of Dermatology is pleased to announce the promotion of three faculty members: Dr. Hillary Johnson, Dr. Brian Swick and Dr. Marta Van Beek.

 

Dr. Hillary Johnson has been promoted to Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology.  Dr. Johnson joined the faculty in 2014 as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and her MD/PhD from Washington University School of Medicine.  She completed her dermatology residency and a fellowship in procedural dermatology at Columbia University.  In addition to procedural cases, Dr. Johnson provides a variety of aesthetic dermatology services.

 

 

 

 


Dr. Brian Swick has been promoted to Clinical Professor of Dermatology.  Dr. Swick joined the faculty in 2007 as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and his MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.  He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and his fellowship in dermatopathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.  He holds a joint appointment with the UIHC Department of Pathology and the Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

 

 

 

 


Dr. Marta Van Beek has been promoted to Clinical Professor of Dermatology.  Dr. Van Beek joined the faculty in 2003 as a Clinical Assistant Professor.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Gustavus Adolphus College.  She earned her MD and MPH from the University of Iowa.  She completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery & Cutaneous Oncology at the University of Iowa. Dr. Van Beek is currently the director of Dermatologic Surgery, the C. William Hanke Professor of Dermatology and the Chief of Staff of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
