Abel Lab Member Receives Fulbright Scholarship

The Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center is pleased to announce that Nicholas (Niko) McCarty, an undergraduate student researcher in the Abel lab, is the recipient of a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship to United Kingdom.

The Fulbright Program aims to achieve mutual understanding between the United States and the people of other countries. Nicholas will be joining the flagship international educational exchange program which is sponsored by the U.S. government, alongside many other distinguished scholars around the world. Fulbright scholars and alumni have had a track record of long-term accomplishments and success. Many have gone on to become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, university presidents, scientists and much more. They include 58 Nobel Laureates, 82 Pulitzer Prize winners, 31 MacArthur Fellows, 16 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipients, and thousands of leaders across the private, public and non-profit sectors. 

Nicolas will be conducting graduate studies at the Imperial College in London. We are confident that Nicolas will have a distinguished career and we wish him all the best. Congratulations Niko!
