June Kudos from the EM Healthcare Team!

  • I wanted to give a shout out to Jami, PA. We had a combative geriatric patient and she stayed in the room the whole time with me while getting labs to insure I was safe and didn’t get injured by the patient. Kudos to her!
  • Jami Hagemann: Her shift ended at 11, but she stayed 3 hrs late on a crazy peds night tonight to help out. Around the time she was supposed to leave, I was stuck with a sick peds trauma and during this time peds also got a big influx of patients. Jami stayed late to help keep her co-resident (a family med resident) stay afloat when peds got bombarded with patients, including a very sick infant. In addition, she continued to manage her other picu patient who was awaiting a bed, rather than handing off to her family med resident colleague who was drowning. I so appreciate Jami’s hard work and willingness to help her co-resident and want her to know that this extraordinary effort does not go unnoticed!

The first tip off was when she took the initiative upon herself to ask Kim Hagarty if she could go in on a trauma activation to help and learn. Per Dr Hagarty, and I quote, "Sarah kicked butt in there". The excellence continued when she asked to help with an intubation and lumbar puncture on a different residents altered patient. With her help, the procedures went more efficiently and served as a learning opportunity for both residents. Her attitude of team work and consistent initiative to seek out additional learning and experience are more than worthy of the Shears of Excellence."
