Introduction to R

Aug 6, 2020
11:00am to 1:00pm
Online venue
University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA 52242

This workshop will introduce participants to R, a programming language for statistical computing and graphics. In the first half of the workshop, we will cover the basics of programming in R. In the second half, we will use R to clean, analyze, and visualize data from a real-world example. Experience with R is not required.

Registrants will be granted automatic access to R on the Interactive Data Analytics Service (IDAS) for the duration of the workshop. Participants are encouraged to use IDAS, rather than an installation of R on a personal computer, since the packages and materials necessary for the workshop will be pre-loaded to IDAS before the workshop.

The workshop will be delivered via Zoom. Participants may use the chat function in Zoom to ask questions and participate in class. Video and microphone are not required but may be helpful.

The workshop is available at no cost to current University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students. Please register here. Registration will close at noon on Tuesday, August 4th. A Zoom invitation will be sent to workshop participants after registration has closed.

This workshop will not be recorded. Future workshops will be posted on ITS Research Services’ Events page as they are planned. Please email research-computing@uiowa.edu if you register but cannot attend the workshop.

* Please note this workshop has been rescheduled to August 6th in order to avoid a service maintenance.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Giang Rudderham in advance at (319)353-5982 or giang-rudderham@uiowa.edu
