GAAD 2021: PDF Accessibility Workshop

Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most widely used, but poorly understood, document formats in the world. PDF (Portable Document Format) is commonly used for the delivery of visually formatted documents. In the past, PDFs were typically intended for printing, and PDF remains a popular format for printable content, but increasingly, PDFs spend their lives on the web. Depending on the content and construction of a PDF, it may pose significant accessibility barriers to some users, including users of assistive technology.

In this session, participants will use Adobe Acrobat Pro to better understand the accessibility implications of the PDF format. We will use Acrobat's built-in Accessibility Checker to identify accessibility issues, and explore a variety of tools used for remediation. Participants can observe or follow along as we remediate an inaccessible PDF. Upon completion of this session, participants will be prepared to undertake the GAAD 2021 PDF Challenge.

This session is offered at no cost, but requires registration.
