Continued Introduction to Data Analysis Using R

When: Wednesdays, June 9 and 16, 2021, noon to 1:30 pm (CDT)

Where: Zoom

What: In this two-part workshop, participants will learn to clean, analyze, and visualize data using R, a popular programming language for statistical computing and graphics.

Key concepts include:

  • Data manipulation using the “tidyverse,” a collection of R packages that provide a framework for data analysis
  • Working with panel data, handling date variables, and computing rates in order to compare groups in panel data
  • Building data visualizations, including bar plots, simple moving averages, and side-by-side plots
  • And more!

Workshop prerequisites include familiarity with:

  • Layout of RStudio, including the Console, Script Editor, Environment, and Help panes
  • Writing and running R code using the Script Editor in RStudio
  • Fundamentals of R syntax: loading installed packages, creating objects, and calling built-in functions
