Dr. David S. Friedman is the Director of the Glaucoma Service and the Albert and Diane Kaneb Chair in Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear as well as Co-Director of the Glaucoma Center of Excellence at Harvard Medical School. He has pursued excellence in clinical care, research, and education, and is considered a leader in all three fields. As a clinician he has consistently been elected a “Best Doctor” and frequently is asked to lecture both domestically and internationally on glaucoma care. He is world renowned for the treatment of angle closure glaucoma. He performs a wide range of glaucoma procedures as well as cataract surgery. Dr. Friedman’s research focuses on angle closure glaucoma, ophthalmic epidemiology, and glaucoma therapy with an emphasis on medication adherence among glaucoma patients. Dr. Friedman has published nearly 300 peer-reviewed articles.

Dr. Reid Longmuir is a native Iowan, who received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Iowa. Dr. Longmuir also completed his residency at Iowa followed by fellowships in both neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma. In 2008, Dr. Longmuir was appointed Assistant Professor at Iowa, specializing in both neuro-ophthalmology and glaucoma. Longmuir’s main focus and interests include unexplained vision loss and optic neuropathies, as well as medical student and resident education. Dr. Longmuir currently serves as Neuro-Ophthalmology Division Chief and Associate Residency Program Director at Vanderbilt Eye Institute.

Associate Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Dr. Janice Lasky Zeid is a pediatric ophthalmologist in Northbrook, Illinois. She graduated from Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine in 1993 and has 30 years of experience. Dr. Lasky Zeid is an Associate Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and practices at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital.

Dr. Richard Rosen first attended New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE) in July 1986, as an Ophthalmology resident. He had previous training as a professional photographer and ophthalmic photographer for Dr. Morton Rosenthal and is a long time member of the Ophthalmic Photographers Society achieving Certified Retinal Angiographer status. He completed his residency in 1989 and his retinal fellowship, under Dr. Muldoon in 1991 prior to joining the staff. During his time at NYEE, Dr. Rosen has been a mainstay of the teaching program and has been honored by graduating residents on numerous occasions for his devotion and dedication to teaching and patient care. Dr. Rosen served as Program Director of Medical Student Education from 1992 – 2002. In 2002 he was named Vice-Chair of the Department and Director of Research and Surgeon-Director. He has received numerous grants especially in Retinal Imaging where he has achieved a well-deserved international reputation. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, numerous abstracts and lectures extensively locally, nationally and internationally.

Dr. Daniel Terveen is a fellowship-trained eye surgeon who specializes in refractive cataract surgery, advanced corneal disease treatments, glaucoma care, and laser vision correction. Throughout his academic and professional career, Dr. Terveen has established a reputation of excellence that he carries into every interaction with patients. Dr. Terveen has always been drawn to solving complex problems, which is how he has gained particular skill in caring for patients with the most challenging cornea, glaucoma, and cataract troubles. He is also a dedicated advocate for improvements in care for all patients. While completing his ophthalmology training at the University of Iowa, he won the Lisa and Amir Arbisser Top Resident Award and initiated and led implementation of the Immediate Sequential Bilateral Cataract Surgery Program at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Iowa City. This effort and others earned him the P.J. Leinfelder Award for Excellence in Research. He has carried this passion and expertise into his practice at Vance Thompson Vision. He serves as a principal investigator for FDA-monitored clinical trials and has published and presented numerous research projects and book chapters about topics including complicated cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and efficiency in clinic processes.

A $50 fee will be charged for continuing education credit to those physicians who are not members of the Iowa Eye Association. (The CME fee for Iowa Eye Association members is covered by your annual dues payment.) The CME Fee is payable through the registration process.
