CRISPR gene editing is the latest technology in creating animal models and has revolutionized biomedical research. CRISPR gene editing has been a service offered by our facility since 2014. This genome-editing tool has accelerated the generation and establishment of over 200 novel models for UI researchers and researchers outside of the University of Iowa. This can be achieved without elaborate cloning of targeting vectors and subsequent recombination in murine embryonic stem cell. We implement this approach whenever possible as we generate new mouse models.
