Active Endeavors
Active Endeavors - brings the mountains to the corn fields. 
Since 1985, Active Endeavors has been encouraging outdoor adventures through apparel and products.  While the original store is the only physical location, they pride themselves on carrying the best quality products online as well.  

Akar
Akar - a store where art and design live in the same cozy space.
Akar was originally founded by two architects in 1997 and has since expanded into a one of a kind company with a wonderful reputation across the Midwest.

Prairie Lights
Prairie Lights - this bookstore has selections from local, national, and international authors.
If walls could talk, the ones at Prairie Lights would share some wild stories. Instead, the shelves just hold them. Since 1978, the quaint bookstore has been overflowing with tales ranging from established to aspiring writers. The Iowa City hot spot attracts authors from all over to perform book readings in its upstairs coffee shop. In 1982, Prairie Lights moved into the same space that the local literary society gathered in the 1930’s – a forum for famous writers like Carl Sandburg, Robert Frost, and Sherwood Anderson to meet.Prairie Lights also boasts hosting live readings from famed authors, a coffee bar complete with food items, wine, and beer.
