Giving Opportunities

Specialists at UI Hospitals & Clinics' James A. Clifton Digestive Health Center care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases. Using multidisciplinary research and clinical programs the specialists treat children and adults with a variety of symptoms for GI or liver disease.

UI gastroenterologists and hepatologists use the most current diagnostic and therapeutic procedures available to treat their patients.

Through research - and with future private support - we hope to develop tests that will lead to improved diagnosis, treatment, and eventually to cures and prevention of GI and liver diseases.

Outright and deferred gifts (through wills and trusts) from patients and UI alumni and friends have helped the Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology to:

  • Purchase state of the art equipment for improved patient care, as well as vital laboratory equipment and supplies for research
  • Recruit outstanding scientists who are working on groundbreaking research to diagnose, treat and prevent digestive diseases
  • Sponsor nationally recognized lecturers to teach students and faculty
  • Create awards for outstanding fellows and faculty who have made significant contributions
