Nephrology Training Grant Renewed

The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension has successfully renewed its NIH T32 training grant for the fifth time, extending the program through Year 30 of its existence. This renewal covers another five-year period, providing nearly $998,000 to fund a variety of activities related to the training and preparation of their fellows, including providing stipends to 3 fellows each year. Since its establishment in 1965, the nephrology training program at the University of Iowa has had a long tradition of clinical and educational excellence. The program provides experience in clinical nephrology, transplantation and dialysis, while providing opportunity for procedures and learning clinical pathology, a dedicated teaching curriculum, opportunities for advanced training and certification, monetary and mentoring support for scholarly activities, and attendance at national meetings.

Under this renewal, the Division has partnered with University of Iowa Health Care’s Center for Hypertension Research (CFHR). As part of their collaboration, the Division and the CFHR will present a joint research seminar Wednesdays at 11 am, either in Room 2189 or 1187 of the Medical Education Research Facility. Their next seminar is scheduled for May 2. If you are interested in presenting on a relevant topic, whether it is a full-length research seminar, work-in-progress workshop, or chalk talk on a project you are planning, contact Dr. Massimo Attanasio (massimo-attanasio@uiowa.edu).
