David Stoltz, MD, PhD
Professor and Director
Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Occupational Medicine

The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine excels in patient care, research, and medical education.  Our faculty includes numerous NIH-funded internationally renowned investigators, master clinicians, and award-winning teachers.

Highlights of our clinical services include: the Medical Intensive Care Unit, where critically ill patients are treated compassionately and expertly  in a multidisciplinary setting; the Respiratory Specialty Care Unit, where the seriously ill may be gradually weaned from mechanical ventilators and where our Cystic Fibrosis patients are cared for;  and our interventional bronchoscopy service, which provides unique approaches to the diagnosis and management of pulmonary conditions including endobronchial ultrasound for the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer, lung volume reduction in emphysema, and bronchial thermoplasty for asthma.

Our faculty’s research spans the spectrum from basic mechanisms of disease to the conduct of clinical trials.  Finally, our fellowship program is nationally recognized for training clinically adept pulmonary physicians who lead distinguished academic careers or leadership roles in the community.
