Protocol for fluorescein injection into CSF with the aid of Neurosurgery colleagues.
- at UIHC we have for intravenous injection a concentration of 100 mg/mL
- place 0.1 mL (usually drawn up in a tuberculin syringe) mixed with 10 cc of CSF provided by neurosurgery during the course of lumbar drain placement
- mix the 0.1 mL with the 10 cc of CSF then place this mixture back into patient slowly: OVER THE COURSE OF AT LEAST 10 MINUTES IN ORDER TO MINIMIZE THE RISK OF SEIZURE
