- Also known as: papillary cystadenoma lymphomatosum, adenolymphoma, or monomorphic adenoma (Aoki 2024)
- Second most common benign tumor of parotid gland - 15% of all epithelial tumors in the parotid gland (Do 2024)
- Typically presents in middle-age or elderly males with a history of smoking (Do 2024)
- Often asymptomatic (Sirvio 2024); may present with pain if associated with inflammation (Aoki 2024)
- May present as multiple or bilateral lesions (Sirvio 2024)
- Typically 2-4 cm, can grow to over 10 cm (Limaiem 2024)
- Histopath demonstrates "concentrated lymphoid stroma with architectural arrangements of both papillary and cystic structures" (Do 2024)
- Ultrasound with fine-needle aspiration cytology is most common method for evaluating parotid gland masses (Sirvio 2024)
- On ultrasound, look for a well-defined mass with one or more anechoic areas and posterior acoustic enhancement at lower parotid pole (Limaiem 2024)
- On MRI, look for encapsulated lesion - low/intermediate signal on T1; intermediate signal on T2 (Limaiem 2024)
