Medical Student Ambassador Program (MSAP)

Do you remember that stressful day you had your interview? Do you remember that “ultra-cool” medical student that was there to empathize, answer any questions, or just give you a pep talk?

As a member of the Medical Student Ambassadors Program, you can be that “ultra-cool” student with all the answers! (plus, you get a free lunch out of the deal) Not only do the medical student ambassadors give tours to prospective students, we also provide educational programs for kids of all ages in surrounding schools. We work with kids from 1st grade to high school age and have programs related to the GI system, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and the Super Senses! Most of the material is hands on; we use models, pathology specimens, x-rays, and other visual aids to make each program exciting. Going out to the schools is a great way to get away from the grind of your class schedule, reach out to the kids in our surrounding communities, challenge yourself to explain complex concepts in a relatively simple and ‘easy to understand’ way, and work with kids who have endless curiosity and enthusiasm.

Additionally, MSAP students represent the Carver College of Medicine at Alumni events on campus. These types of events include current medical student panels, escorting guests to CCOM Alumni award ceremonies, and joining alumni at welcome receptions on campus. This is a great way to network with those who previously walked in your shoes and showcase the innovative changes and new additions that make CCOM so special.

If any of these activities spark your interest in the Ambassadors Program, please keep an eye out for information about us and how to join during orientation. MSAP is one of the most rewarding, make-a-difference kind of groups around. We would love to have you join us!

Enjoy the rest of your summer and we’ll see you soon.
