International Academic Institution Rotations

Guidelines for Current Students

The International Academic Institution Rotations are an opportunity for you to explore a nation’s healthcare practices within an educational institutional setting. These rotations involve participation in course work, hospital rounds, clinical outreach, plus more and can often be shaped to fit your medical specialty interests. International academic institutional rotations may be particularly valuable if you are interested in pursuing a career in academic medicine or prefer an institutional structure in which to learn.

The Carver College of Medicine currently has institutional agreements with the medical programs listed through the links below. Participation in these programs is limited to fourth-year medical students. Applications are reviewed early in the fall semester of the M3 year.

Guidelines for International Student Visitors

Thank you for your interest in pursuing an international medical student clinical rotation with Carver College of Medicine. Regrettably, we have very limited capacity for visiting students and can only extend invitations to final-year medical students from colleges with whom we hold an institutional affiliation agreement.
At this time, we only accept students from the following colleges who have been nominated by their home program:

  • Federal University of Bahia, Brazil
  • Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil
  • University of Copenhagen, Denmark
  • University of Oxford, England
  • Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald, Germany
  • Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden
  • University of Gothenburg, Sweden

If you are a final-year medical student at one of these institutions, we encourage you to contact your university's administrative offices concerning student selection for the program. Once we are contacted by the institutional administrator with their selected representatives for the coming year, an application packet with course options for selected international visitors and scheduling blocks will be sent. Visitors may pursue a maximum of two four-week clerkships.

If you are not from one of these institutions, we regret that we cannot offer you the opportunity to pursue a clinical clerkship with us at this time.
