Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Interest Group

The Carver College of Medicine Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Interest Group provides the opportunity for medical students interested in the field to learn more about the specialty and gain experience in the field. The group will have monthly meetings with presentations from faculty and fellows, discussing interesting cases, clinical interests, and research in the field. The group also provides medical student with the opportunity to gain experience directly with faculty in the clinical setting.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Interest Group has several goals:

  1. Introduce medical students to the field of child and adolescent psychiatry
  2. Promote understanding of psychological and medical complexity in the field
  3. Provide interested medical students with faculty mentorship and direct experience in the clinical settings
  4. Encourage medical students interested in the field to form a network with other students, residents, fellows, and faculty members

Please visit our table at the M1 Activities Fair during Orientation Week. Monthly meetings, usually over the lunch hour, will be held during the academic year. Presentations and discussions can be tailored to medical student interests. There are many clinical opportunities available to medical students in the field. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Interest Group is sponsored by the Department of Psychiatry.

If you are interested in upcoming events in the group, early clinical experience in the field, or mentorship, please contact one of the group’s faculty advisors, Dr. Carissa Gunderson or Dr. Hanna Stevens.
