Dr. Justin L. Grobe, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, has received a Pathway to Independence Research Transition award (R00 phase) entitled: “Central Renin-Angiotensin System: Metabolism, Fluid Balance, and Hypertension” from the National Institutes of Health, for 3 years beginning June 2012. This project aims to elucidate mechanisms of metabolic rate control by the renin-angiotensin system within the brain, with the ultimate goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets for obesity and related disorders including hypertension and diabetes.
