Department seeks neuroscience faculty members

The Department of Pharmacology seeks highly qualified applicants for two tenure track faculty positions at the assistant, associate or full professor level in the area of neuroscience. Preferred areas of research include neurophysiology, cellular and molecular neuroscience, integrative neurobiology, pain and neurodegenerative disorders involving genetic model systems. The department has new leadership and is undergoing expansion of its faculty and complete renovation of its research facilities.

Pharmacology faculty members direct an NIH-funded training program for predoctoral students in pharmacological sciences and have strong collaborative interactions with colleagues throughout the Carver College of Medicine, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and the University. The faculty members also participate in interdisciplinary training programs including neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology, pain research and genetics, as well as the cardiovascular center and medical scientist training programs. Newly remodeled outstanding research space with state-of-the-art shared instrumentation is available. These tenure-track positions include a 12 month salary, benefits and a competitive start up package. All applicants must have a relevant doctoral degree with at least two years of postdoctoral training, a commitment to biomedical education and demonstrate a high level of productivity, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Candidates will be judged on their potential to initiate and maintain strong, independent research program, their desire to train students and postdoctoral fellows and to participate in departmental teaching activities.
