Nicole Littlejohn defends PhD Thesis

Nicole Littlejohn successfully passed her Ph.D. examination on Thursday, October 29, 2015.  Her thesis title was “Tissue-specific Roles for the Renin-Angiotensin System in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Regulation”.  Members of her thesis committee were chair, Justin Grobe from the Department of Pharmacology, Curt Sigmund  and Kamal Rahmouni from the Department of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine, Matthew Potthoff from the Department of Pharmacology and Allyn Mark from the Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Littlejohn’s research focused onrenin-angiotensin system (RAS) regulation of basal metabolic functions.  She received her BA in Biology from Luther College, Decorah, IA and entered the Biosciences Program at Iowa in 2010.  She joined the Pharmacology Department in 2011 to begin the Ph.D. phase of her training.  She is currently interviewing for post-doctoral scholar positions.
