Jacqueline Reilly Successfully Defends Thesis

Jacqueline Reilly successfully passed her Ph.D. examination on Friday, October 24, 2014. Her thesis title was "The role of protein geranylgeranylation in prostate cancer.” Members of her thesis committee were chair, Raymond J. Hohl from the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pharmacology, Rory A. Fisher, from the Department of Pharmacology, Songhai Chen from the Department of Pharmacology, Michael D. Henry from the Departments of Molecular Physiology & Biophysics and Pathology, and Aliasger K. Salem from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics.

Dr. Reilly's research focused on defining the role of protein geranylgeranylation in the progression of prostate cancer into androgen-independence and metastasis. She received her B.S. in Chemistry from Creighton University and entered the Biosciences Program at Iowa in 2011. She joined the Pharmacology Department in 2012 to begin the Ph.D. phase of her training. Immediate plans are to work as a postdoctoral scholar in Dr. Dawn Quelle's laboratory in Pharmacology.
