Kristin E. Claflin, a third year graduate student in the Department of Pharmacology, has been awarded a Predoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association’s Midwest Affiliate for her project titled “The Indispensable Role for AT1A Receptors on Leptin-Sensitive Cells for the Metabolic Effects of Leptin.” This fellowship was one of only thirty eight awarded from 134 applications during this review cycle. The project is aimed at dissecting the mechanisms of crosstalk between leptin and angiotensin, within the brain, in the control of cardiovascular and metabolic function.
