Lauren Boland (M1G) medical scientist student in the laboratory of Kamal Rahmouni, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, received the "Outstanding Presentation in Pharmacological Research" award for her presentation entitled " Bardet-Biedl Syndrome Proteins are Critically Involved in Insulin Receptor Trafficking and Signaling" at the 46th Annual Medical Student Research Day. During the summer of 2014, Lauren worked in the laboratory of Dr. Rahmouni. Her project focused on understanding the mechanisms of insulin resistance associated with Bardet Biedl syndrome, a pleiotropic autosomal recessive human disorder associated with a wide range of phenotypes including diabetes.
