Dr. Charles Brenner conducts first clinical trial on nicotinaminde riboside

In a study published on October 10 in Nature Communications, Dr. Charles Brenner, Roy J. Carver Chair of Biochemistry, Professor of Internal Medicine and Co-founding Director of the Obesity Research and Education Initiative at the University of Iowa, shows nicotinamide riboside (NR) increases levels of a cell metabolite that is critical for cellular energy production and protection against stress and DNA damage in humans.

Dr. Kamal Rahmouni honored by International Society of Hypertension

Dr. Kamal Rahmouni, Associate Professor in the Departments of Pharmacology and Internal Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine, and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Diabetes Research Center and the Obesity Research and Education Initiative at the University of Iowa, has been awarded the 2016 Paul Korner Award by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH).
