Nurse Midwife Faculty Position Opening Announced

The University of Iowa Women’s Health Nurse-Midwifery Service in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a highly qualified Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our faculty on the non-tenure clinical track.  

Education: Master’s degree or higher.  If Master’s degree is not in nursing, but a related field, a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.

Licensure and Certification: Applicant must be certified or eligible to be certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and hold credentials to obtain a RN/ARNP license in Iowa.  

Responsibilities:

  • Inpatient and outpatient care that includes well woman gynecology.  Must be able to commute to off-site clinic locations in the greater Iowa City area. 
  • Medical student and resident education.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other CNMs that will include in-house requirements. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent midwifery inpatient/outpatient clinical skills, with demonstrated experience in obstetric inpatient care.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.  
  • Proficiency in EPIC is desirable. 
  • Experience with teaching in an academic medical setting and the demonstrated ability and /or potential to excel at scholarship and teaching are highly desirable.
  • Previous clinical experience is desirable.
