Athletic Training Residency Program Outcomes 

Upon completion of the program residents will be able to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Demonstrate the ability to implement systematic examinations and assessments to formulate valid clinical diagnoses and determine patients’ plan of care
  • Utilize evidence-based practice concepts to develop advanced clinical practice skills and medical knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions common to sports medicine and orthopedic patients
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine primary care physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, orthopedic and primary care residents, and nursing staff to improve care of patients
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate with patients, families, and within the health care team to optimize patient outcomes
  • Utilize systems of quality assurance and quality improvement to enhance patient care using critical thinking and reflection to analyze and solve problems
  • Utilize modern health care related technology to improve patients’ health-related quality of life
  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism as a health care provider
