Madelyn Espinosa-Cotton, a Free Radical and Radiation Biology Ph.D. student in Dr. Andrean Simons-Burnett’s laboratory, has received an NIH F99/K00 Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award from the National Cancer Institute. The title of this grant is Targeting inflammation and immune response in HNSCC therapy. The grant will fund Madelyn for the rest of her pre-doctoral period and will fund 4 years of a post-doctoral fellowship. Madelyn’s project involves studying the effects of pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling on the efficacy of the epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor cetuximab in the context of head and neck cancer.
