January 2018 Under the Scope

Tanika Moreland, Laboratory Technician IV in Surgical Pathology, is the January 2018 winner of the Under the Scope Award - Congratulations to Tanika!

Tanika’s nomination: Constantly ensuring the lab techs she supervises are ahead of the game and helps us with any problem we encounter, whether it's lab related or in our personal lives.

How long have you worked in Pathology?
I began working in Surg Path in 2004 as a student and continued working as a Lab Tech after that. Now as a Lab Tech supervisor I oversee a group of lab techs that get the lab ready in the morning, close down at night, and assist in the functionality of the lab however they can.

What do you enjoy about working here?
The relationships I’ve built with co-workers.

How did you decide to become a lab professional?
I job shadowed a Pathologists’ Assistant when I was in college and when a job opened up after that I decided to try it out.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Shopping! I also collect different things like paper money from other countries, miniature figurines, and Star Wars memorabilia.

What is your dream vacation?
Probably Greece, or anywhere with water, sand, and a beach.

What is your favorite movie?
The newest Ghostbusters

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Being able to grow money
