The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine is dedicated to educating the next generation of academic pediatric specialists in pulmonology and in allergy and immunology. Our Pulmonology Fellowship Program helps to train the next generation of specialists in this important field. Our fellows are involved in basic and clinical research projects, and have strong clinical training in pediatric pulmonary medicine. In collaboration with the Department of Internal Medicine, fellowship training in allergy and immunology, and the option for combined training in pulmonology and allergy and immunology are also available.

Our faculty are engaged in research across a spectrum of basic, translational, and clinical science. The University of Iowa is internationally recognized for research in cystic fibrosis. This includes CF clinical trials, and basic and translational research. Other areas of research include asthma management and clinical trials, outcomes research in asthma, exercise induced dyspnea, and food allergy.

We are committed to helping community physicians with these and other problems related to allergic, immunologic, and respiratory disorders, both by seeing your patients in consultation and by providing educational services when requested.
