Kenjiro Muta, a graduate student in the Department of Pharmacology, has been awarded a Predoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association’s Midwest Affiliate for his project titled “The role of mTOR pathway in hypothalamic insulin receptor signaling.” This fellowship funded only 34 out of 145 applications reviewed for the MWA Winter 2012 cycle. The project is aimed at identifying the underlying mechanisms responsible for anorectic and sympathetic effects of insulin in the brain.
