Dr. Kamal Rahmouni, PhD, has been awarded the American Heart Association (AHA) 2015 Hypertension Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence. The AHA Hypertension Mid-Career Award for Research Excellence recognizes a mid-career investigator working in hypertension or cardiovascular research who has significantly contributed to the understanding of the causes of hypertension and related cardiovascular disease. Dr. Rahmouni's research focuses on the identification of the molecular and cellular determinants of glucose metabolism, energy expenditure, and cardiovascular function, as well as, investigating the dysregulation of the cellular and molecular pathways in disease conditions such as obesity and diabetes. The Rahmouni laboratory has helped uncover new molecular mechanisms that are critically involved in the regulation of metabolic and cardiovascular functions.
