Shields Named as 2017 McMillan Lecture Award Recipient

Monday, July 25, 2016

Richard Shields has been named the recipient of the 2017 McMillan Lecture Award.  The Mary McMillan Lecture Award was established by the American Physical Therapy  Association (APTA) in 1963 and is the highest honor provided by the Association.  The award was established to pay tribute to Mary McMillan (1880-1959).  Mary, a dedicated pioneer of physical therapy, was an esteemed teacher and the founding President of the American Physical Therapy Association.  The purpose of the award is to acknowledge and honor a member of the APTA who has made a distinguished contribution to the profession in the areas of administration, education, patient/client care, and/or research.  The recipient then provides the lecture at the annual NEXT Conference sharing their achievements and ideas.  Dr. Shields is among an elite group of individuals to have received this esteemed honor.  The 2017 NEXT Conference is June 21-24 in Boston.
