Dr. Richard K. Shields gave the 2013 Robert L. Lamb Distinguished Lecture at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) on September 16, 2013.  Shields' lecture "Capitalizing on the Regenerative Capacity of Human Tissues to Stress: The Basis for Effective Rehabilitation Interventions" was given to clinicians, faculty, scientists, staff, and students.  Dr. Robert L. Lamb, a long standing leader in Physical Therapy, for whom the lecture is named, and his colleagues from VCU celebrated the day with faculty and student discussions.  With over 200 participants in attendance for the lecture, Dr. Shields challenged all to consider the power of therapeutic stress (exercise) and its potential impact on improving health and quality of life for future generations.  Shields was honored to provide this prestigious lecture in recognition of one of our distinguished leaders in Physical Therapy.
