The significance of a research abstract published at the American Academy of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) annual meeting was highlighted by Elekta, our MR-Linac vendor. In the abstract " Surrogate Gating Strategies for the Elekta Unity MR-Linac Gating System", the authors established proxy structures that mimicked the motion of the lungs, liver, pancreas and prostate enabling them to effectively gate the treatment beams without directly visualizing the tumor. This research follows the release of Elekta's Comprehensive Motion Management that allows for interfraction target tracking and motion management. Medical physicists Samuel Rusu MS, Blake Smith PhD, Joel-St Aubin PhD, and Daniel Hyer PhD conducted the research and published the abstract.
