The Department of Surgery is excited to announce that Evgeny Arshava, MD, FACS has joined the cardiothoracic faculty.

Dr. Arshava graduated from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia Medical School in Moscow. He completed his preliminary surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic and general surgery and cardiothoracic residencies at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Continuing his career at Iowa, Dr. Arshava completed two fellowships in surgical critical care and cardiothoracic surgery and has been a staff surgeon at the Iowa City VA Medical Center since 2008.

Dr. Arshava is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He will focus on general thoracic surgery including complex lung, chest wall and esophageal surgery. Dr. Arshava will also be a member of the UI Lung Transplant Program.
