Scott-Conner elected Vice-Chair of the History and Archives Commitee of the American College of Surgeons

Carol Scott-Conner, BS, MD, PhD, MBADr. Carol Scott-Conner, Emeritus Professor of Surgery, has been elected Vice-Chair of the History and Archives Committee of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Dr. Scott-Conner was notified on Aug. 13th, 2019, that the Nominating Subcommittee of the History and Archives Committee had elected her to the two-year term which begins in October, 2019, at the ACS Clinical Congress.

From the website of the ACS: The mission of the Surgical History Group is to advance, promote, sustain and expand the recognition, appreciation, presentation, preservation and study of American surgical history; to stimulate and to facilitate research and other scholarly activities on this subject; to enhance our resources for this endeavor; and to incorporate the study and appreciation of surgical history into the surgical curriculum and its application to future goals.

Dr. Scott-Conner joined the Dept. of Surgery and served as its head from 1995 to 2004. At the time, she was only the second female head of a Department of Surgery in the nation. She is the author of ten books and has published numerous papers and book chapters.
