Dr. Carol Scott-Conner, Professor Emeritus and Emeritus Chair, UIHC Dept. of Surgery, has been invited to give the Olga M. Jonasson Lecture at the 2019 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons in San Francisco, CA, on October 29th, 2019. The Olga M. Jonasson Lecture was established in 2007 in memory of Olga Jonasson, MD, FACS, who became the first woman Chair of Surgery in the United States.

Dr. Scott-Conner led the Department of Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics from 1995 to 2004. She was only the second female head of a Department of Surgery in the United States when she came to the UIHC in 1995. She is the author of ten books and has published nuerous papers and book chapters. A long line of Iowa surgery resident physicians received, and continue to receive, superb training under Dr. Scott-Conner's tutelage.
