The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that the textbook Hamilton Bailey's Physical Signs: Demonstrations of Physical Signs in Clinical Surgery, 19th Edition was awarded the special category prize of ‘Student Textbook of the Year’ at the BMA Awards 2017. This textbook was authored by Dept. of Surgery professors emeriti Carol Scott-Conner and Jamal Hoballah, among others. Dept. of Surgery faculty Ingrid Lizarraga and Evgeny Arshava also contributed chapters. The BMA is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the United Kingdom, and it annually recognizes those medical books that make "outstanding contributions to medical literature."
