PA Men's Health Fellowship

About the Physician Assistant Men's Health Fellowship

Our Men's Health Program provides accessible, convenient, evidence-based, and innovative care to our local, regional, national, and international communities. We believe physician assistants play a vital role in this mission. To date, there are no fellowship opportunities supporting male-specific genitourinary training for physician assistants. We aim to provide six months of comprehensive clinical, surgical, research, didactic, and community engagement-focused training that prepares the fellow for a career specializing in the treatment of male-specific, genitourinary concerns. Upon graduation, the PA Men’s Health Fellow receives a University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics certificate documenting completion of 6 months post-graduate training in men’s health.

Men’s Health at Iowa: Program History

The Men’s Health Program, part of our Urology serivces at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, began offering specialized care for male-specific genitourinary concerns starting in 2014. Dr. Amy Pearlman joined the Iowa faculty in 2018 and has been directing and expanding the program since. Our clinical care focuses on the comprehensive treatment of male sexual health, lower urinary tract symptoms, male hormonal deficiency, and cancer survivorship. Our men’s health program team currently comprises advanced practice providers who help care for our patients alongside Dr. Pearlman, as well as in their own clinics. Our Genitourinary Reconstruction Fellow also works closely with our men’s health program team.
