Minimum Requirements

The GRE is no longer required for Biomedical Sciences programs.

The minimum requirements for admission to the BSP are:

United States applicants

  • A bachelor's degree from a Regionally Accredited American College of University, or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the Office of Admissions.
  • A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00/4.00, or the foreign equivalent as determined by the Office of Admissions.

International applicants

  • A U.S. bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, or an equivalent degree from another country as determined by the Office of Admissions.
  • A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00/4.00, or the foreign equivalent as determined by the Office of Admissions.
  • English proficiency requirements as set by the Graduate College.

In addition, the Cancer Biology Program will ask both U.S. and international applicants for:

  • Personal statement
  • Three letters of recommendation (including one from the student’s current research mentor and the others from someone knowledgeable about the student’s academic experience)

Applications of all students who meet minimum admissions requirements will be evaluated and ranked by an admissions committee for the program. Additional materials such as a personal statement and letters of recommendation will be used by the admissions committee members to further screen applicants. Selected students will be invited to campus for an interview. The admissions committee will make a final determination of admissibility for each student following the interview process.
