Inspiring mentors throughout my training have heavily influenced my clinical and research interests. This was particularly the case during my Craniofacial Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. There I was immersed in the wide field of pediatric and craniofacial surgery through the mentorship of Christopher Forrest, John Phillips, David Fisher, and Ron Zuker in particular. Our work ran the gamut from birth to maturity including cleft, craniofacial, orthognathic, and reconstructive microsurgery. My Plastic Surgery training at Duke bore a heavy emphasis on reconstructive microsurgery including a strong experience in facial reanimation.

From a research standpoint, my main interests have been in computational fluid dynamics of airflow in cleft and craniofacial pathoanatomy and in gene therapy for treatment and prevention of vascular disease and scar.
