As a researcher with a background in biological anthropology, I am most interested in understanding the intersection between, genes, the environment, and both normal and abnormal morphological variation within the craniofacial complex of humans. My current research involves the examination of dental and craniofacial morphology (via coordinate landmark analysis and geometric morphometrics) as it relates to 1) dental malocclusion, and 2) non-syndromic cleft lip and palate (NSCL/P). Within these objectives, I am specifically working on projects dealing with the characterization of dento-facial phenotypes in conjunction with GWAS and other genetic data to explore the relationships between genotype and phenotype in the dento-facial complex. I am also interested in exploring craniofacial symmetry and any potential links (both syndromic and non-syndromic) between asymmetry and the human genome.
