Brief description of current research:
I am an infectious diseases physician. Historically, my primary research interest been in the field of infection control and designing ways to improve infectious disease surveillance. In my practice, I saw so many infections that were in part attributable to diabetes that I became motivated to think more about diabetes as a contributing factor to infectious disease morbidity and mortality. I realized that if we want to prevent some of the most common infectious diseases we needed to think more about controlling diabetes. Thus, I decided to apply my interests in disease surveillance to the field of diabetes and obesity. A pilot grant from FOEDRC made this possible.
