The Patient Care Partner Award recognizes an innovative and creative practice that has demonstrated an enhanced level of care. The award is presented to a physician, medical practice, clinic, or other health care provider who has developed a patient care program that works cooperatively with pharmacists to optimize patient care.

Through the Mobile Clinic, he collaborates with co-director Dr. Jeanine Abrons, PharmD, and student pharmacists to achieve the mission of providing access to healthcare for the underserved areas of Iowa City. This team worked closely with public health to ensure COVID-19 vaccines were allocated and distributed to patients in Johnson County.

He has received multiple “Teacher of the Year” awards within his department, as well as recognition from the Council of Emergency Medicine Directors Academic Assembly.

"Dr. Runde’s collaboration with pharmacists, both through the Mobile Clinic and within the Emergency Department, is exemplary.
