Facility Acknowledgment in Publications

The Flow Cytometry Facility receives significant financial support from agencies such as the Carver College of Medicine, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, VA Medical Center, and the National Institutes of Health. This benefits investigators by keeping charge rates affordable, funding new equipment, and supporting personnel and expenses. The funding agencies must justify this support to their federal and state governing bodies who expect greater accountability with respect to the research benefits of their financial support. Therefore, the facility requests that you acknowledge the appropriate agency in your publications as outlined below.

University of Iowa Investigators

On behalf of the dean of the College of Medicine, we request all scientific publications based on Flow Cytometry Facility data include the following statement in the acknowledgement section:

"The data presented herein were obtained at the Flow Cytometry Facility, which is a Carver College of Medicine / Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center core research facility at the University of Iowa. The facility is funded through user fees and the generous financial support of the Carver College of Medicine, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Iowa City Veteran's Administration Medical Center."

Cytek Aurora CS Users

The Cytek Aurora CS high-speed cell sorter was purchased in 2023 with funds from a NIH Shared Instrumentation grant award. If your research project utilizes this cell sorter, please use the following acknowledgement in your publications:

“Research reported in this publication was supported by the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number 1 S10 OD034193-01.”

Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Members

The NIH has informed the Cancer Center that any research publications that receive support from the Cancer Center’s support grant (P30CA086862) should acknowledge that grant. P30 funds help support the Cancer Center’s shared research core facilities’ personnel and expenses. Therefore, any publications from Cancer Center members that utilize research cores supported by the Cancer Center, such as the Flow Cytometry Facility, should acknowledge the Cancer Center grant. The instructions from the NIH indicate that each publication, press release, or other document about research supported by an NIH award must include an acknowledgment of NIH award support and a disclaimer such as:

“Research reported in this publication was supported by the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number P30CA086862.
