Dr. Kristi Ferguson, Professor of General Internal Medicine and Director of the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education, has received a grant of nearly $150,000 from the National Board of Medical Examiners’ Stemmler Research Fund.

Dr. Ferguson will test a computer-based case diagramming technique and whether it can provide accurate benchmarks of our students’ abilities and understanding of core concepts. Professors of Nephrology Dr. Lisa Antes and Dr. Manish Suneja, also our Department’s Residency Program Director, will work with Dr. Ferguson to develop cases for study and validation of this tool. Dr. Fred Dee of the Department of Pathology will also serve on this advisory group.
